Have you ever searched in vain for a facial cosmetic line free of

a skin care product free of formaldehyde-releasing preservatives such as
Quaternium-15 or imidazolidinyl urea?
Have you wished that you could find a lotion or shampoo free of
lanolin or fragrance, or a cleanser free of commonly known irritants?
Have you been frustrated as you try line after line of facial
cosmetics, only to continue to develop acne or dermatitis?
I have spent the past 21 years researching and developing an ultra
pure line of facial and body cosmetics that are free of such ingredients.
I am now proud to announce that I have succeeded in this endeavor with
our new skin care line. These products not only possess these desired
qualities, but are also elegant, fresh, and cosmetically acceptable. We
have determined their acceptability after years of consumer use tests.
This product line represents the first time in history that anyone
has developed a full line of facial, body, and color cosmetics that are
simultaneously oil free, fragrance free, and lanolin free, as well as non-
comedogenic, non-acnegenic, and hypoallergenic, and with all
ingredients rated 0/0 or 0/1 in a published comprehensive study of
comedogenicity and irritancy. At the same time, these products possess
the qualities of elegance, moisturization, and a natural, aesthetic
appearance.
Additionally, for the first time in history, we have developed a
non-prescription antipruritic (anti-itching) cream that has been shown to
be clinically effective and that simultaneously contains menthol,
camphor, phenol, lidocaine, and pramoxine, all of which are proven
topical analgesics.
It is hoped that you will find this line invaluable for sensitive skin
or for skin prone to the development of acne. Patients with these
problems will also be happy to receive a light, elegant product newly on
the market.

at Berkeley. He then completed medical school and internship at
Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska. In
medical school he took courses in clinical pharmacology at the
University of California Medical Center. He completed his dermatology
residency at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and has
been in private practice for 28 years.
He has performed over 120 clinical trials as principal investigator,
sub-investigator, or as the medical director of the Colorado Medical
Research Center.
Dr. Swinehart has evaluated cosmetic products in dermatology for
the past 22 years. He has conducted numerous focus groups and patient
clinical studies concerning topically applied cosmetics. He also has had
to treat the complications of acne, including acne cosmetica over the past
two decades. The prevalence of acne scarring has led to his use of
dermabrasion, laser peels, or chemical peels on many of these patients.
Therefore, he has searched for years to find a line of products that might
prevent the development of such severe acne.
In addition, he has evaluated hundreds of cases of cosmetically
induced contact dermatitis or irritant dermatitis and has performed patch
testing on many of these patients. Initially, Dr. Swinehart was frustrated
after spending years searching in vain for products free of the common
patch test tray allergens to recommend to his patients. Many products
were free of one or two ingredients, but not all of them. Therefore, he has
spent the past seven years in research and development working with
specialty cosmetic formulators to develop this elegant, ultra pure line of
cosmetics.

"ALL NATURAL"
Products that are "all natural", while using current buzzwords, are

"ALL NATURAL"
Products that are "all natural", while using current buzzwords, are
not necessarily desirable or superior. Poison oak and ivy are also "all
natural"! Many plant products (including chamomile, aloe vera, and
fragrances), as well as animal products (such as lanolin) are potent
allergens and should be avoided in individuals with sensitive skin.
"HYPOALLERGENIC"
"Hypoallergenic" is not the same as "non-allergenic." Even water
can cause
"'aquagenic urticaria", a form of hives. However, common
materials that can cause allergies should be avoided. These include
fragrances, colored dyes, and formaldehyde releasing preservatives, such
as Quaternium-15 or imidazolidinyl urea.
"OIL FREE'
"Oil free" does not mean
"'non-comedogenic" or "non-acnegenic"
Isopropyl Myristate, for example, is a potent acne-causing chemical,
found in many cosmetics, and yet is not an oil. Oil substitutes that do not
cause acne have been included in all Dermaline products.
«NON-COMEDOGENIC»/«NON-ACNEGENIC»
These terms refer to product testing performed to determine whether
blackheads or plugged pores (comedones) or acne pimples/pustules, are
caused by the offending product or ingredient. In the past, rabbit ears
were used for these assays. Currently, clinical testing is performed on
patient subjects with sensitive skin.
"REMOVES WRINKLES OR AGING CHANGES"
Concerning other commonly made promises in the cosmetic
industry: we won't claim that our products can remove wrinkles
no
product sold over the counter can do that. However, for people with
sensitive skin who want to attempt to avoid acne, try to avoid allergies,
and look and feel their best with an elegant, smooth feel and appearance,
Dermaline's products may be for you!
